Trusty’s is FREE services network that lets people find and reward reliable help in their neighborhood and around the world. Trusty’s encourages people who provide services (plumbers, dentists, accountants, babysitters, etc.) to create profiles, and people who receive services to rate and review them. Anyone who visits can search for and compare providers based on reputation, location, cost and quality or service. By building a transparent system for sharing the relative strengths of service businesses, Trusty’s allows people to make informed decisions about who they hire.
If you provide a service, or own a small services business, Trusty’s is a powerful tool for establishing your reputation, locating new clients and promoting your services. If you are seeking services, Trusty’s lets you communicate with trustworthy providers, rate and review businesses, share insights about who you've worked with , and check references before you hire.
People seeking quality services or people providing quality services. By our calculations, that includes about 90% of the people on the planet.
The best way to get a feel for Trusty’s is to search for something. Type a service, like 'handyman,' on the home page and click SEARCH. Once you have a list of results, you can filter by clicking on words in the left column (Service, Title, Specialties, etc.) or sort by clicking words across the top (Provider, Distance, Score, Cost, etc.). If you see someone who interests you, click on their picture or name to view their profile. Once you get a sense how to set up your profile, you can create your own by clicking 'Join Now!' at the top of the page.
Of course. You can share as much or as little information about yourself as you like. The only information included on every profile is first name, first initial of last name (you can opt to display full name), and the city and state where you live. Everything else, you can either hide (like email address) or simply choose not to share.
While Trusty’s was started in Washington, DC, we're organically expanding into other markets. And while most services are local, an increasing number can be provided remotely. We aspire to help people find the right service provider for them, whether around the corner, or around the world. However, if you're not finding service providers in your hometown, please encourage them to join.
A Personal Profile is what everyone who joins Trusty’s starts with, and all that a person who plans to write reviews or send messages needs. The Personal Profile has limited contact information and background details, and will not show up in site search. A Service Profile is for service providers, or anyone who owns a service business. And while the Service Profile provides additional fields for contact and background details, the only requirement is that providers select a services category and subcategory (ie. Auto / Transportation > Auto Mechanic). Only Service Profiles can be reviewed, and only service profiles display in search results. Of course, members with Service Profiles can review other Service Profiles. If you have a Personal Profile, and would like to switch to a Service Profile, click on the 'Settings' link at the top of the page (when you are signed in), and there is a button on that page to 'UPGRADE' to a Service Profile.
Once you've entered your details on the Join Now page, and clicked JOIN NOW, you receive a confirmation message from Trusty’s at the email account you used to join. Within that message is a confirmation link -- either click on the link, or copy and paste it into your browser to fully activate your membership. The reason we confirm emails is to verify the integrity of all reviews, messages, and other communications. If you're having trouble, please let us know:help@trustys.com.
To edit your profile details, click on any of the small '(edit)' links on the My Profile page, or click the 'Settings' link at the top of the page (when you are signed in), and then click on any of the Edit My Profile links.
Click the 'Settings' link at the top of the page (when you are signed in), then click on any of the Account Info links.
With some very basic HTML tags, you can format certain sections of your profile: Summary, Experience, Education, and Certifications. The allowed formatting includes making text bold or italics, adding links, or embedding images.
Only Service Profiles display in search results. If you want your profile to be included in search, switch to a Service Profile. You can do this by clicking the 'Settings' link at the top of the page (when signed in), and then clicking the 'UPGRADE' button on that page.
No. In order to maintain the trust and accountability of our community, we require that members maintain a single Trusty’s profile. This is to prevent people from submitting multiple reviews for a single service provider (which violates the Trusty’s Terms Of Service). If we discover that someone has opened multiple accounts, we will close all profiles but the original one.
My List is like a 'favorites' page, and it also becomes your default address book when sending messages. It's a good place to save friends, providers you like or are interested in hiring, or people whose reviews are particularly good. You add someone to your list by clicking the "Add to My List" link above their name on any profile. You access 'My List' by clicking the link at the top of the page (when signed in).
Any service provider who has a profile on Trusty’s is fair game for being reviewed. Obviously you should know the person, and/or have hired them at some point in order to provide an honest review.
The best reviews are personal and descriptive, offering insights about the experience and helpful suggestions for working with a service provider. The most useful reviews sometimes make mention of unique qualities that make the service provider special or the type of person who might also like their service.
Please do. We want to hear about your good experiences, and bad ones. Be sure to include relevant facts and details. Service providers cannot remove negative reviews from their profiles (though they can dispute a review by contacting help@trustys.com).
Whether it's a positive or negative review, keep in mind that your opinions are generally protected but posting false information can have legal ramifications.
Service providers are an integral part of the Trusty’s community, and they are welcome to communicate with people who have reviewed their services. We encourage civil, constructive communication, and will never tolerate personal attacks or hate mail.
If you know a service provider who is not on Trusty’s, please encourage them to create a profile by sending an invite (click the 'Invite' link on the home page, or at the top of the page when you are signed in).
Of course, if you had a bad experience with a service provider, and they do not have a profile on Trusty’s, it might be tough convincing them to join. The truth is, you're probably not the only person who has had a bad experience, and eventually their reputation will catch up to them. Next time, search for reliable help on Trusty’s.
In some instances the Trusty’s team will remove reviews (and notify whomever wrote the review.) Typically, we remove a review if it crosses one of these lines:
Anyone can invite a service provider to join Trusty’s by clicking the INVITE button on the home page. Include your name and email, and the recipient's name and email, and then feel free to edit the default message.
You can invite friends or service providers once you've signed in by clicking the "Invite" link at the top of the page. Include their name and email, and feel free to edit the default message. The invitation will include a link that brings them back to Trusty’s.
Trusty’s takes your privacy very seriously. Please review our Privacy Policy for more details about what we do with your personal information.
We also take SPAM very seriously. If you receive unsolicited commercial messages from someone on Trusty’s, please forward the message to help@trustys.com. We will investigate and take action immediately. If you receive a message that is harassing, abusive, or otherwise violates our Terms Of Service please forward the message to help@trustys.com.
To cancel your membership, send a request to help@trustys.com. If you don't mind, we'd also like to hear why you're leaving and what we can do to improve the Trusty’s experience.
